A man has been charged with murder following a death in Dundee.

Michael King is accused of killing Lee Small, 40, who was pronounced dead at a property in Ballindean Terrace on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday, where he was also charged under the Police and Fire Reform Act.

King made no plea and has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance within the next eight days.

The family of Mr Small said in a statement: “Lee was a much loved son, father, brother, cousin, uncle and friend to many. His loss will be sorely felt by us all.

“We would ask that we are given privacy to come to terms with our loss at this time.”

Detective chief inspector Keith Duncan said specialist officers were supporting the deceased’s family and there continued to be an increased police presence in the area.

He added: “Anyone with any concerns should speak to officers.”
