An arrest has been made after police were called to an incident where a man allegedly barricaded himself inside a flat with a knife.

Duncraig Road in Dundee was cordoned off with the entrance of the street guarded by a police vehicles at around 5am on Sunday morning.

Officers were forced to close the road at the junctions of Dunholm Road and South Road during the alleged six-hour siege.

Police have confirmed a 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson said : “Around 5.20am on Sunday, police received a report of a 38-year-old man in possession of a knife within a flat in Duncraig Road, Dundee.

“He was subsequently arrested. 

“There was no threat to the wider public. 

“Duncraig Road at the junctions of Dunholm Road and South Road were closed as officers dealt with the incident, they have now re-opened.”
