Royal Air Force Police joined officers to patrol the streets of Elgin ahead of the festive period.

On Saturday, crews were partnered up and sent out to carry out foot patrols throughout the town centre.

Police said the decision to partner officers with members from the RAF Police in Lossiemouth comes as the festive period is one of the busiest times for licensed premises.

The joint patrols aim to ensure the public can continue to enjoy the festivities as “safely and securely” as possible, a spokesperson said.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland in the North East said: “Last night, officers in Elgin were joined by members of the Royal Air Force Police from RAF Lossiemouth.

“Police Scotland crews were partnered up with a colleague from the RAF, and carried out foot patrols in Elgin town centre.

“The festive period is an exceptionally busy time for licensed premises.

“As such, these joint patrols ensure the public can enjoy the festivities as safely and securely as possible.”
