A knife was held at a shop worker during an attempted robbery in Moray.

The man fled empty handed following the botched raid at a convenience store in St Paul Street, Buckie, on Monday.

Nobody was hurt during the incident, which happened around 4.45pm.

Police are now trying to identify the man, aged between 25-40 and around 5ft 6in to 5ft 10in tall. He was wearing a dark hooded top and grey jogging trousers.

Detective sergeant Robbie Williams said: “Fortunately no one was injured but it was an upsetting incident for the staff member involved.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries in the area, including careful study of the available CCTV footage.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area around the time or who has any other information which could help our investigation to come forward.
