The incident happened at Dundee Ice Arena on Monday at around 9pm.
Investigating officers said a group of eight youths, both boys and girls, were spotted in the area at the time of the vandalism.
One of the boys, who was wearing white shorts and a dark-hooded top, was seen to throw items at a number of panels around the building, smashing some of them and causing most of the damage.
