High-octane Arenacross British Championship returns to Aberdeen

The third round of the series is being held at the city's P&J Live, featuring reigning champion Tommy Searle.

The Arenacross British Championship returns to Aberdeen this weekend.

The third round of the series is being held at the city’s P&J Live, featuring reigning champion Tommy Searle and last year’s runner up Conrad Mewse.

The mix of indoor motocross racing includes children as young as six right up to the top professionals.

Freestyle motocross rider Daniel Whitby shared what makes the event so special.

‘‘You don’t necessarily have to be a motorcycle enthusiast,’’ he said.

‘‘Right across the board from little kids through to the grandmas, bring the whole family. It is a family-orientated show. Lots to see, loads of racing, freestyle, lights, pyros, lot’s going on.”

Dexter Forsythe, nine, from Lochgilphead is among those performing in Aberdeen on Saturday night.

‘‘I’m going to be riding my bike around the track, just having fun’’ he said.

‘‘I actually really enjoy it when I go fast because I kind of just bounce over everything and it just makes it easier.”
