Firefighters tackle blaze at car dealership overnight

Firefighters worked overnight to tackle a blaze at a car dealership in Perth.

Emergency services were called shortly after 1am on Thursday morning to the “well-developed” fire at the Cameron Volkswagen dealership on Dunkeld Road in the city.

Six fire appliances and police officers attended the incident, with fire crews remaining at the scene at 11am on Thursday morning.

Dunkeld Road, which is a main route out of the city, was closed between Gowan’s Terrace and Bute Drive.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.06am on Thursday, October 12 to reports of a fire within a commercial premises in Perth.

“Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances to the city’s Dunkeld Road, where firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

“As of 11am on October 12, two appliances remain on scene with crews working to dampen down remaining hotspots.

“There are no casualties.”
