Firefighters battle flames as blaze rips through disused mill

Firefighters have tackled a blaze at a disused mill in Elgin. 

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews rushed to the scene of the fire on Monday morning around 3.30am along with four fire engines and a height appliance. 

The fire at the three-storey building on Oldmills Road was contained and crews will remain on site until the area is made safe. 

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.32am on Monday, February 7, to reports of a fire within a three-storey building in Oldmills Road, Elgin. 

“Operations control immediately mobilised four fire engines and a height appliance to the location and firefighters extinguished the fire. 

“Crews will remain at the scene until the area is made safe.”
