Major road closed after 'ordnance' item found in nearby property

Officers confirmed that Arbroath road was shut between the Claypotts junction and the Scott Fyffe Roundabout.

A major road has been locked down after an “ordnance” item was found at a property in Dundee.

Police have shut down that Arbroath Road between the Claypotts junction and the Scott Fyffe Roundabout around midday on Friday.

The nature and location of the item have not yet been confirmed.

Drivers have been advised to use alternative routes.

Police Scotland Tayside posted on social media: “The A92 Arbroath road is currently closed between the Claypotts junction and Scott Fyffe roundabout due to a report of an ordnance item found at a nearby address.

“Motorists are advised to take an alternative route.”

Stagecoach East Scotland has said several of its routes have been disrupted.

Posting on X, they said: “Due to a police incident at Scott Fyffe Roundabout, services 39 and X7 will divert via Strips of Craigie, Dundee Road and Claypotts Road in both directions.

“Stops at Gotterstone and Monymusk will not be served until further notice. Apologies.”

They later added: “Due to congestion around Craigiebank, please expect delays to services 39, 73 and X7 until further notice.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
