Police have sealed off multiple streets in Perth as firefighters tackle a blaze at a building.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident around 9.50am on Monday.

Police confirmed that High Street and Scott Street are closed to traffic and pedestrians as emergency services battle the blaze.

The public has been urged to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “High Street and Scott Street in Perth are currently closed to traffic and pedestrians due to a building fire, reported shortly after 9.50am today.

“Emergency services are at the scene and we would urge people to avoid the area at this time.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.50am on Monday, January 29 to reports of a fire within a commercial premises on High Street, Perth.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and one height appliance to the scene.

“Crews remain in attendance.”
