Body found in woodland search for missing teenager

A body has been found in Aberdeen woodland during the search for a missing teenager.

Police Scotland confirmed the discovery was made at around 3pm this afternoon.

Searches have taken place around the River Don for 18-year-old David MacLeod, who has been missing since Friday afternoon.

Formal identification of the body has yet to take place but Mr MacLeod’s family has been informed of the development.

Officers were joined in the search by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Coastguard.

Police said in a statement: “Police Scotland can confirm that around 3pm today (Wednesday, 24 June, 2020) the body of a man was found in the wooded area near to Grandholm Drive in Aberdeen.

“Formal identification has yet to take place. However, the family of 18-year-old David MacLeod who was reported missing on Friday, 19 June, has been informed.”
