A body has been found in the search for a man missing for more than two weeks from Aberdeen.

James Duncan, 26, was reported missing after last being seen in the city’s centre on October 18 around 12.15pm.

It was believed Mr Duncan may have travelled to the Ballater area.

Officers previously issued multiple appeals to trace him and said they were growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

On Wednesday, Police Scotland discovered the body of a man in the Craigendarroch Hill area of Ballater.

It said formal identification has not yet taken place but Mr Duncan’s family has been notified.

No suspicious circumstances are suspected.

A spokesperson for the force said: “On Wednesday, November 2, the body of a man was found in the Craigendarroch Hill area of Ballater.

“The family of James Duncan, reported missing from Aberdeen, has been notified. There are no suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
