Armed police make arrest after man seen with 'possible weapon'

A 41-year-old man has been arrested and police say enquiries relating to the incident are ongoing.

An arrest has been made after a man was seen with a “possible weapon” in Inverurie on Wednesday.

Initial calls to police were made at around 2.55pm on Wednesday, after the man was spotted in the town’s Elphinstone Road area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers, including specialist officers, are currently in attendance at an address in Port Elphinstone, Inverurie, following reports of a man seen in possession of a possible weapon in the Elphinstone Road area.

Armed police were spotted at the property.

“Police were called to the scene at around 2.55pm on Wednesday, January, 25 and a 41-year-old man was arrested.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
