Police want to track down two witnesses who stepped in to help a man who was allegedly racially abused.

The incident was reported to have taken place in Dundee’s Seagate at around 7.25pm on Saturday.

Police said the victim was walking along the street when he was allegedly subjected to racial abuse by another man standing outside Kandy Bar, formerly Klozet Bar. 

Two other men nearby were said to have intervened and remonstrated with the suspect, which led to a minor altercation.

Police want to trace the potential witnesses so as they can speak to them regarding the alleged incident.

A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection with the reported incident, and subsequently released pending further enquiries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “If you have any information regarding this incident which could assist us, and particularly if you are one of the individuals who intervened to assist, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.”
