Appeal after firing range ‘deliberately’ set ablaze

Firefighters tackled a blaze in a building used to store targets at the range in Moray.

Police are investigating a blaze at a firing range which they believe was started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to a building used to store targets at Binhill Firing Range in Kingston, Moray, at around 11.20am on Sunday.

Detectives said that due to the remote location of the building and circumstances surrounding the fire, they believe it was started deliberately.

They are appealing for information about the fire, which they are treating as suspicious.

Detective constable John Riddell said: “I am appealing for any witnesses who were in the area of the firing range around the time the fire was reported, and who may have seen any suspicious activity.

“This is a popular walking route and I’m hopeful that someone will be able to provide information which may assist us in this investigation and help catch those responsible.”
