An investigation is under way after a body was discovered near a roundabout in Aberdeen in the early hours of the morning.

Police locked down the area surrounding Stoneywood Road and Victoria Street shortly after 3.30am on Saturday morning amid an initial probe.

Traffic has been diverted away from the route, while train services on the East Coast line have been affected by delays.

Officers say the death is being treated as “unexplained”.

Rail services between Aberdeen and Inverness now start at Inverurie until further notice, with bus replacement services in place, while those from the city to Edinburgh have also been impacted.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said initial enquiries into the discovery remained at an early stage.

They added: “Around 3.30am on Saturday, September 17, police were called to the roundabout at Stoneywood Road and Victoria Street, Dyce, following the discovery of a body.

“The death is being treated as unexplained, pending further enquiries, which are at an early stage.”
