A woman has been charged with attempted murder after a car crashed into a building in the Highlands.

The smash happened near Inverness city centre shortly after 9pm on Thursday, January 21.

Police reported that a Mercedes E220 hit a building at the junction of Grant Street and Lochalsh Road.

Four people were taken to hospital following the incident.

A 43-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the crash. She is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

A force spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm a 43-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in relation to a serious road crash near Inverness city centre on Thursday, January 21, 2021.

“The crash happened around 9.10pm when a Mercedes E220 collided with a building at the junction of Grant Street and Lochalsh Road.

“The woman is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Wednesday, February 3.”
