Two men appear in court after police officers assaulted in Shetland Police Scotland

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with an assault of police officers and attempted break-in to a property in Shetland.

The incident took place in the Tingwall area around 9pm on Tuesday and led to the arrest of two men, aged 22 and 43.

The men appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

It comes after 39-year-old was arrested in connection to a separate investigation into a break-in on a Commercial Street in Lerwick on Monday around 12.20am.

Inspector Sam Greshon said: “Anyone with information, or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the Commercial Street area in the early hours of Monday, February 13, should call police on 101, quoting incident 0037 of February 13.

“At this time, I’d also like to remind members of the community to take care with securing their properties and vehicles, especially at night. Don’t leave any valuables in plain sight, to discourage any opportunistic thieves.”
