A real life recreation of Shrek’s Swamp home is open for bookings in the Scottish Highlands.
Fans will be able to spend two nights in the ogre’s fantasy hideaway after Airbnb revealed the listing on Tuesday.
When booking an overnight stay, few people would look at a description listing “mud-laden” or “moss-covered” and be desperate to book.
However, for Shrek enthusiasts across the world, the swamp is offering the opportunity of a lifetime.
The exclusive two-night stay at the premises will take place from Friday, October 27, to Sunday, October 29, and will accommodate up to three guests.
Located in the grounds of Ardverikie Estate, where TV show Monarch of the Glen was filmed, the fairytale stay has an even more magical price tag in that it will cost you nothing.
Kitted out with “nice boulders”, “beware ogre” signs, and even an outhouse 20 meters from the front door, the location sees Shrek’s home brought to life.
Not to mention being hosted by Shrek’s best pal, the Airbnb-verified host Donkey which the booking site descrivbes as “swamp-sitting” for his fellow DreamWorks Animation’s co-star.
“Shrek’s Swamp is lovely,” Donkey writes, “Just beautiful. The perfect place to entertain guests.
“You know what I like about it? Everything. The overgrown landscaping, the modest interiors, the nice boulders, all of it. I can’t wait for guests to experience this muddy slice of paradise for themselves.”
To celebrate the launch Airbnb will make a donation to the HopScotch Children’s Charity, which provides some of Scotland’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children with respite breaks through nurturing and dynamic holiday trips.
How to book Shrek’s Swamp
All you have to do is request to book the listing and wait for an email to confirm you’ve been chosen.
Ogre enthusiasts can request to book the fairytale stay in Shrek’s Swamp beginning October 13 at 6pm.
Onion lovers who are lucky enough to be chosen as finalists to stay at the swamp will be responsible for their own travel to and from the location.
A spokesperson for Airbnb said: “The host is expecting this listing to be very popular, so to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to book, guests must request to book the one-time stay.
“Please do note that this exclusive two-night stay is not a contest.”
