An investigation has been launched after two schoolgirls were assaulted in Fort William on Monday.
A video posted on social media showed the incident, which occurred outside the gates of Lochaber High School, as a girl is followed by a group of youths before being thrown to the ground.
The girl’s hair is grabbed while she is held down by others and punched and kicked.
Another girl steps in to help before the group of youths sets upon her as well.
Police confirmed an investigation was under way and enquiries were ongoing while Highland council said that it takes incidents of bullying and violence “very seriously”, but could not comment on individual cases.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “An investigation is under way following the assault of two 15-year-old girls in Lochaber. The incident occurred around 1.15pm on Monday December 19, 2022 in Lochyside.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
A Highland Council spokesperson said: “All of our schools take incidents of bullying and violence very seriously and follow national policy on dealing with incidents to ensure each school has a safe and supportive learning environment for everyone.”
