Police dog found after running off near Loch Ness

A search of the area was conducted on Monday and concerns began to grow that she may be injured.

A police dog that went missing after running off while on a walk near Loch Ness has been found “safe and well”.

PD Fergie disappeared after being spooked by a deer while being walked by her handler north of Polmaily House around 10am on Sunday.

A search of the area was conducted with concerns raised that she may have been injured.

Fergie, a black and tan three-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd, was traced on Monday afternoon not far from where she was last seen.

She was reunited with her handler.

Chief Inspector Gordon Fotheringham, Police Dog Unit Lead for the North, said: “Following searches PD Fergie has been traced and is now back with her handler.

“We are all delighted and we would like to thank everyone who shared and responded to our appeal.”
