Pensioner in hospital with serious injuries after crash

An 87-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were injured in the collision.

An 87-year-old man has been badly hurt in a car crash in the Highlands.

A white Peugeot 2008 and grey Volkswagen Golf collided on Saltburn Road, Invergordon, around 4pm on Wednesday.

The pensioner and a 26-year-old woman were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with serious injuries.

While the woman has since been released, the man is still receiving treatment.

The road was closed between 9pm and midnight as a crash investigation took place.

Sergeant Alasdair Mackay said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have seen either vehicle in the Invergordon area shortly before the collision to get in touch.

“We are also appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and who has dashcam footage or any other information which may assist to get in touch.”
