A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Mallaig.

The 40-year-old man was travelling on a Honda VFR800 motorcycle on the A830 at the junction with the B8008 around 8.30am on Friday when he collided with a Vauxhall Corsa.

He was taken to Belford Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.

Road Policing Constable Ben Cruickshank of the Highlands and Islands Road Policing Unit said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I would ask anyone who witnessed the crash or who believes they saw either vehicle on the road prior to the crash to get in touch. 

“We would be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash.

 “Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 0666 of July 12.”
