A motorcyclist has died following a crash on an ‘unclassified’ single-track road in Moray.

Emergency crews including the air ambulance were scrambled to the stretch between the B9012 at Upper Knockando and B9010 at Dallas at around 10.30am on Saturday morning.

The male rider received treatment but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Eyewitnesses reported police taping off the road and remaining on the scene for several hours.

No other vehicles were understood to have been involved in the crash.

An investigation has now been launched into the incident but police said enquiries were at an early stage.

The road has since reopened, officers said.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called around 10.30am to the road between the B9012 at Upper Knockando and B9010 at Dallas, Moray following reports of a one-vehicle crash involving a motorbike.

“Emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended but the male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.”

They added: “The road has been cleared and re-opened. Enquiries continue.”
