A man wearing a gas mask and brandishing what appears to be knives has been involved in a stand-off with armed police.
Images of the incident on Polvanie View in Inverness show a man standing before a block of flats below a smoking window.
Police confirmed a 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Raigmore Hospital in connection with the incident.
Officers said they were called to the estate following a report of a concern for a person.
A large police presence descended on the street with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service also attending.
A man brandishing what appeared to be knives and dressed in camouflage fatigues wearing a full-face gas mask was surrounded by police.
No one was injured as a result of the fire and police said there was no wider threat to the public.
A Police Scotland spokesperson: “Officers attended at a property on Polvanie View in Inverness around 3pm on Thursday, March 31, following a report of concern for a person.
“On attendance, the property was on fire. No one was injured as a result of the fire and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene.
“A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been conveyed to Raigmore Hospital.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“The incident is contained and there is no wider threat to the public.”
