A trio of orphaned owls named after Lord of the Rings characters have been rescued in the Highlands.
Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli were found in a shallow burrow in Inverness but sadly their mum had died.
The owlets, just a few weeks old, would not have survived in the wild and are now receiving round-the clock care at a Scottish SPCA wildlife centre.
The animal welfare charity has confirmed once the owls are old enough they will be released back in to the wild, so they can “fly free”.
The Scottish SPCA is responding to more than 140 reports of animals in need every day during the coronavirus pandemic.
