Parking meters at one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Isle of Skye have been vandalised in the early hours of the morning.
Four parking meters were targeted at Quiraing visitor car park between 2am and 3am on Wednesday, March 20.
The new parking facility was installed to address the pressure on parking from visitors at the beauty spot and is managed by The Highland Council on behalf of Scottish Government Rural Payments & Inspections Directorate (SGRPID).
A local councillor has said the cost to repair the damage will impact investment in the area.
Skye and Raasay Area Committee chair councillor John Finlayson said: “Income from the Car Park is reinvested by SGRPID into the significant path infrastructure investments being undertaken annually and income is also distributed to the crofting occupiers of the grazing lands which again funds further local crofting investment.
“The lost income and cost to repair these machines will impact reinvestment.
“As local Members we are saddened by this criminal act and urge anyone with information to contact Police Scotland as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to contact Police via 101 quoting the reference number 1608.
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
