A hospital remains on high alert following a cluster of coronavirus cases.

Ward 5A at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness was closed on Friday to new admissions and visitors following the detection of a “very small number” of Covid-19 infections.

On Monday, NHS Highland confirmed the ward is still on lockdown.

The health board said: “All appropriate infection prevention and control measures have been put in place.

“Close contacts have been identified and given appropriate advice and support.

“We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone they should continue to adhere to physical distancing guidelines, wear a face covering when in enclosed spaces, clean your hands and surfaces regularly and immediately self-isolate and book a test if you develop symptoms.”

An update is expected on Wednesday afternoon.
