First images of Elk twins born at wildlife park released

The first images of Elk twins born at a wildlife park in the Highlands have been released.

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) confirmed that the calves were born to parents Raven and Ash at Highland Wildlife Park on May 18.

Keepers at the wildlife conservation charity say the youngsters are doing well, adding that they will be sexed and named soon.

The charity said that patient visitors in the area may be able to catch a glimpse of Ash and her new calves in the park’s drive-through reserve.

With the arrival of the twins, the park is now home to a family of six Eurasian elk.

Raven and Ash welcomed another set of twins, Wren and Goose on May 16, 2023.

Historically native to Scotland, Eurasian elk are the largest living deer species and are still found across Europe.
