An elderly man has died following an incident involving a quad bike in Shetland.

Emergency services were called to land near Sand Voe shortly after 1pm on Friday, November 3.

An 83-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin has been made aware.

Police are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “About 1.15pm on Friday, November 3, we were called to a report of an incident involving a quad bike on land near Sand Voe, Shetland.

“Emergency services attended and an 83–year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin are aware.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
