A search was launched in the Highlands for a young child spotted wandering the streets alone in the early hours of the morning.
Concerns were raised over the welfare of the girl, thought to be around eight years old, since she was last seen in the Marine Road area of Nairn around 6.20am on Thursday, October 27.
She was described as having blonde hair in a ponytail and was wearing a pink dress at the time, according to an eyewitness.
Police Scotland officers have since confirmed the incident was a “false alarm with good intent”.
A statement by the force said: “Police in Nairn have carried out extensive enquiries following a report of concern for a young girl seen in the Marine Road area around 6.20am on Thursday, October 27.
“Enquiries have established that this was a false call with good intent.”
