A couple who died following a road crash on an Orkney island have been named by police. 

Emergency services were called to the scene of the one-vehicle crash near Coo Road on Sanday on Friday at around 8.40am following the crash. 

John Drever, 39, and Vikki Drever, 34, were pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed the crash happened between the hours of 9pm on Thursday and the early hours of Friday.

Police are appealing for information as they continue enquiries into the crash.

Sergeant Angus Macleod, of Highland and Islands Road Policing, said: “My thoughts are with the families and friends of Mr and Mrs Drever at this difficult time, and they have asked for their privacy to be respected following their loss.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call local officers via 101, quoting reference 0634 of Friday, 25 March, 2022.”
