Concern is growing for a man who has been missing for five days in the Highlands.

Police issued a fresh appeal to help trace John McGrath, 52, who was last seen in the John O’Groats area around 10am on Saturday, March 2.

An extensive search has been ongoing in the area, with assistance from specialist police resources, HM Coastguard and the RNLI.

However, the 52-year-old remains missing and police said concern is “growing” for his welfare.

He is described as being white, around 5ft 10in tall, of slim build with short, grey hair.

It is not known what he would have last been wearing.

Sergeant Steve Todd said: “Despite considerable search activity in the local area, John McGrath remains missing and we remain very concerned for his welfare.

“I would take the opportunity to thank the local community for their assistance with our enquiries so far and would urge people to remain vigilant and report anything which may be of use to us.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have private CCTV or dashcam footage from the area which may assist the investigation.

“Anyone who believes they may be able to assist can call 101, quoting reference 1186 of March 4, 2024.”
