A 15-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in the Highlands.
Police received a report of a disturbance in Milnafua, Alness, at around 12.30am on Saturday.
Emergency services attended and a 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The teenager was arrested and was reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the death.
The boy, who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared at court on Monday charged with murder.
He made no plea and was committed for further examination and released on bail.
Police Scotland said officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries since the incident was reported and they remain ongoing.
“This was an isolated incident and there was no risk to the wider public,” a spokesperson for the force said.
“Officers will be carrying out additional patrols in the area and members of the public are encouraged to speak to a police officer if they have any concerns.”
