Google MapsA woman has been taken to hospital after a two-car crash on the A9 in the Highlands.
The major road is closed in both directions near Portgower, south of Helmsdale, following the incident on Monday afternoon.
Drivers have been warned to avoid the area, with significant delays expected after the collision which happened shortly before 1.25pm.
One woman was taken to Raigmore Hospital while police remained on the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services are in attendance following a report of a two-vehicle crash on the A9 near Portgower.
“A woman has been taken to Raigmore Hospital as a precaution. The road is currently closed.”
