The A9 is closed in both directions after a crash in the Highlands.

Emergency services were called to the A9 Inverness to Thurso road at around 7pm on Wednesday after receiving reports of a collision.

The trunk road remains closed to all traffic between Alness and Tomich.

A police spokesperson confirmed officers responded to “reports of a crash” and currently remain at the scene.

Motorists are being urged to use an alternative route and expect longer than usual journey times at this time.
