A man killed in a three-vehicle collision in the Highlands has been named by police.

Osmond Pearson died in the crash on the A832 between Tore and Muir of Ord at 5.30pm on Tuesday.

Another 40-year-old man remains in Raigmore Hospital in a serious but stable condition following the crash. A third man escaped uninjured.

The A832 was shut for several hours while the cars were recovered with local diversions in place.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Following a three-vehicle road traffic collision that happened on the A832 between Tore and Muir of Ord, a 37-year-old man died as a result of his injuries.

"The man can be identified as Osmond Pearson, from Muir of Ord.

"All three vehicles were recovered from the scene, with the road closed for several hours with local diversions in place.

"As part of ongoing inquiries, we would urge anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn't yet been in touch to make contact on 101."
