The actor John Stahl who was best known for his role as Inverdarroch in STV’s Take the High Road has died aged 69.
Stahl appeared in the soap between 1982 and 2003.
Co-star Derek Lord, who played Davie Sneddon in the series, said: “Sorry to hear my old High Road colleague John Stahl has passed.
“He’ll always be Inverdarroch to me, the only man to best Sneddon in a fair fight.”
Comedian and actor Andy Cameron tweeted: “John Stahl was a big man in every way.
“Thank you for being a pal, John, rest in peace.”
John Stahl studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama before a career spanning five decades.
More recently he had appeared in several episodes of Being Human and Game of Thrones.
Stahl was born in Sauchie in Clackmannanshire and had been living on the Isle of Lewis.
Bobby Hain, managing director of broadcast at STV, said: “We’re saddened to hear of the loss of John Stahl, a hugely talented actor who, in his role as Tom ‘Inverdarroch’ Kerr in Take the High Road, was a much-loved presence on STV for over 20 years.
“John’s impressive career took him all the way from Glendarroch to Westeros, and we’re proud that he started that journey by playing, and indeed shaping, one of High Road’s most memorable characters.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with John’s family.”
