Lewis Capaldi fans flying to Los Angeles were in for a treat on Tuesday, when the star popped up with his guitar and sang for them 35,000ft in the air.
Teasing his upcoming single Wish You the Best, Capaldi sang for British Airways fliers over the Atlantic Ocean en-route from London Heathrow.
After take-off, he made his way through the plane with a drinks trolley to surprise fans on board, including four unsuspecting “superfans” who had been specially invited onto the flight.
Capaldi serenaded customers with a chorus and verse of the unreleased song, with the lyrics declaring “it seems like Glasgow gets further from LA”.
“This was the most amazing surprise. We’ve been huge fans of Lewis since his first song, Bruises, in 2017,” said Rowan and Georgie Gupwell, superfans from Glasgow.
“We have tickets to see him live later this year, so to meet him up close yesterday was a moment we’ll cherish forever, and we can’t wait to see the new song live again in concert.”
Nicola Barker, BA employee and also a massive fan, said: “What a ‘pinch-me’ moment it was to watch Lewis perform with his guitar during the flight – not only did he sing, he served me a great a G&T too!”
Wish You the Best is the latest single from Capaldi’s upcoming album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, out May 19.
