Lewis Capaldi has dedicated his third career number one single “to his enemies” after comeback track Forget Me shot to the top of the charts.
The West Lothian singer eased straight in ahead of Eliza Rose to claim the position for the first time since the release of Before You Go in 2020.
The single was released on September 9, three years after his successful debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Heavenly Extent was released in 2019.
That record featured Someone You Loved, his first track to go to number one.
Forget Me was the most physically-purchased and digitally downloaded single of the week up to September 16, according to the Official Charts Company.
He said: “I can’t thank everyone enough for doing this with me and getting it to this point, even though I did most of the work myself.
“This one goes out to all of you, the people who love me, and especially to my enemies.
“May you all perish in flames and know nothing but eternal suffering.”
Capaldi wowed crowds in Glasgow earlier this week with an impromptu busking set on the city’s Buchanan Street.
He performed some of his most well-known hits and joked with the assembled crowd over the lack of coins chucked in his guitar case before quietly leaving.
