James McAvoy donates £275,000 to NHS for protective gear

The Hollywood star donated the money to a crowd funding campaign raising money providing equipment for staff battling coronavirus.

Scots actor James McAvoy has donated over a quarter of a million pounds to the NHS for much needed protective gear.

The Hollywood star, 40, donated the money to a crowd funding campaign raising money providing equipment for staff battling coronavirus.

The campaign has now raised more than £500,000, surpassing the £200,000 initial target.

NHS medics launched the page earlier this week.

The Glaswegian, who has starred in a number of movies including the X-Men series, says the current situation is “truly urgent”.
