GB News has suspended host Laurence Fox after “unacceptable” comments he made towards a journalist.

A spokesperson for the broadcaster confirmed Fox would be taken off television for an undisclosed period after remarks about political correspondent Ava Evans from the news site Joe during an appearance on Dan Wootton Tonight.

The news site said it would formally apologise to Ms Evans today.

A statement read: “GB News has formally suspended Laurence Fox while we continue our investigation into comments, he made on the channel last night.

“Mr Fox’s suspension is effective immediately and he has been taken off air. We will be apologising formally to Ms Evans today.”

The discussion came after Ms Evans appeared on BBC’s Politics Live on Monday.

The clip from the interview with Fox quickly made the rounds on social media and has been viewed more than five million times as of Wednesday morning.

Ms Evans, a former producer at LBC, shared a clip of the comments on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption: “Laurence Fox just did a whole speech on GB News on why men apparently won’t s**g me?”

She later told her over 100,00 followers on the site that the footage made her feel “physically sick”.
