Britney Spears has announced she is expecting her first child with fiancé Sam Asghari.
The pop star, 40, revealed the news in an Instagram post on Monday, and said she had taken a pregnancy test after Asghari teased her about being ‘food pregnant’.
She wrote: “So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby,
“Four days later I got a little more food pregnant.”
It comes as the singer was released from her controversial conservatorship in November, which controlled many aspects of her life including her finances.
She was placed under the legal arrangement in 2008 amid substance abuse and mental issues.
The decision to end the conservatorship closed one of the most controversial chapters in modern pop music history and handed Spears the keys to her estimated $60m (£45m) estate.
Spears has spoken out about her desire to have a third child and said she was prevented from doing so as part of the conservatorship.
The star has two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, from her previous relationship with Kevin Federline.
