A Scottish actress who is appearing in Barbie has pulled out of a special Glasgow screening of the summer blockbuster.
Sharon Rooney was due to introduce the film in front of a live audience at Glasgow Film Theatre on Saturday, July 22.
The Glaswegian actress is playing ‘Lawyer Barbie’ in the star-studded film, which hits cinemas on Friday, alongside Hollywood A-listers Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
However, the theatre posted an update to say the 34-year-old would no longer be attending the screening due to the ongoing Screen Actors Guild strike which has hit Hollywood.
Announcing on Twitter, the statement read: “Due to the recently announced Screen Actors Guild strike, Sharon Rooney will not be attending the screening on July 22.
“We apologise for any disappointment.”
Members of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and the Writers Guild of America (WAG) are on strike at the same time for the first time in 63 years.
It comes after union bosses had hoped to negotiate better terms with streaming giants like Netflix, Disney, and Amazon, but discussions fell through.
Actors’ demands include higher pay and safeguards against unauthorised use of their images through AI.
