A woman who died in a crash on the A7 in the Borders has been named, as another driver involved in the collision has been arrested.
Emergency services were called at 3.45pm on August 15 to a report of a crash involving a Vauxhall Astra, Ford Ranger and a Nissan Juke near the road’s Ashkirk junction.
The 64-year-old female driver of the Vauxhall Astra was taken to Borders General Hospital, where she later died.
She has now been identified by police as Yvonne Nicol, from Hawick.
A male passenger in the Vauxhall, aged 65, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
The 71-year-old female driver of the Nissan Juke was airlifted to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where her condition was described as critical but stable.
The 30-year-old male driver of the Ford Ranger sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
He has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences and released pending further enquiries.
Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2563 of August 15.
