A woman has been taken to hospital and a man has been reported for road traffic offences after a four vehicle crash closed a major road.
Shortly before 6am on Wednesday morning, police were called to reports of a four vehicle crash between three cars and a heavy goods vehicle on the A1 between Prestonpans and Musselburgh in East Lothian.
The road was closed in both directions following the incident for a time as motorists faced delays and diversions.
A 60-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and a 59-year-old man will be reported in connection with road traffic offences.
Police confirmed that the road was reopened at around 8.10am.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.40am on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 officers were called to a report of a four vehicle crash involving three cars and a heavy goods vehicle on the A1 between Prestonpans and Musselburgh, East Lothian.
“A 60-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh by ambulance.
“A 59-year-old man will be reported in connection with road traffic offences.
“The road was reopened around 8.10am.”
