A woman has died after a single-car crash in the Scottish Borders on Friday afternoon.

At around 3.20pm on May 19, a silver Kia Picanto was travelling eastbound on the B6404 between St Boswells and Kelso when it left the road.

Emergency services attended and a 55-year-old woman, the driver and sole occupant of the car, was taken by ambulance to Borders General Hospital, where she later died.

The road was closed for several hours while recovery and enquiries were carried out and fully re-opened around 10pm the same day.

Police are now carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of the crash and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died in this incident.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and we are appealing to anyone who may have information that could help to get in touch.

“In particular we are asking for those driving in the area around the time of the crash to get in touch. If you have any dash-cam footage that could assist then please contact us.”
