A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a drugs offence after a teenage boy died at a property in Fife.
Police were alerted that a 16-year-old had taken unwell at a property on Kirkland Avenue in Ballingry shortly before midday on Sunday, October 29.
He was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead later that day.
Officers confirmed on Friday that a 23-year-old woman had been arrested and charged in connection with the death.
Police confirmed the woman had been released pending further inquiries.
It is the second arrest in an ongoing investigation, after a 14-year-old had been arrested and charged in connection with the death. He was later released pending further enquiries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.55am on Sunday, October 29, we were made aware of a 16-year-old male youth having taken unwell on Kirkland Avenue in Ballingry.
“He was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment but died a short time later. His death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“A 14-year-old male youth was arrested and charged in connection with an alleged drugs offence and released pending further enquiries.
“A 23-year-old woman has also been subsequently arrested and charged in connection with an alleged drugs offence and released pending further enquiries.
“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
