A Scottish zoo has captured the moment two of its bears started “wrestling”.
Five Sisters Zoo shared the clip of the female European brown bears playing in their enclosure in West Lothian.
In the video, Eso, an 11-year-old, and Byara, a five-year-old, can be seen play fighting with each other.
Sharing the video on social media, the animal keepers said: “Eso and Byara have heard that it’s WrestleMania week and are getting in the spirit by doing one of the things bears do best… wrestling!”
The bears are recent additions to the zoo with Eso being rescued in May 2018 after being found living in a small cage outside a roadside restaurant in Eastern Europe along with her brother, Henk.
The pair was rehomed at Five Sisters Zoo but Henk died in 2020.
Byara joined Eso in the enclosure in April 2022 after being found as a small cub in a house in a remote part of Northwest Russia.
A spokesperson for the zoo said that the young bear had been kept at the house for “some time” on a diet of bread and milk.
Gary, the head of carnivores at Five Sisters Zoo and primary keeper for our bears, said: “It took many months to successfully introduce Eso and Byara but moments like this make it all worthwhile and are testimony to the hard work and dedication of our keeping team.”
The video was a hit with followers and quickly racked up 1,500 likes and over 100 comments.
One follower said it was “lovely” to see the bears having fun before thanking the zoo for their work with rescue animals.
Another wrote: “Wow it’s lovely to see them out and enjoying themselves”.
