Two children have been identified and a charge has been made after a peacock was allegedly tortured and killed at a Fife park.

On Monday, police received a report of animal cruelty after a peacock, known as Malcolm, was found dead at Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline.

A second peacock was also injured in the incident.

Police have now confirmed that two boys, aged 13 and 11 have been identified in relation to the incident.

The 13-year-old has been charged in relation to the incident, and both have been reported to the Youth Justice System.

A GoFundMe page which was set up to repair the park’s aviary following the incident raised thousands in a matter of hours.

Money raised will go towards vet fees and repairing the aviary and remains open.
